Workbox Staffing is hiring a Metal Artisan in Garden City.
 
As the Metal Artisan, you will use your creativity and craftsmanship to cast exquisite living metals around a substrate for artistic, large-scale projects. You will be part of a team that creates striking, Old-World style products for high-end clientele, including luxury hotels and casinos, upscale bars and restaurants, and custom home developers. Being communicative with the team is vital for success in this valuable role.

Responsibilities:
  • Take initiative with your tasks and be proactive with your work to stay on-schedule and avoid errors.
  • Become familiar with vocabulary of the tools and materials you are working with, as well as internal vocabulary of custom finishes and design details.
  • Ensure you understand the specifications, finish texture and patina, and timeline of each project before beginning casting and/or finishing. Communicate if more clarification on these items is needed.
  • Determine if a work order and the workpiece are in alignment.
  • Conduct quality control checks throughout the project.
  • Use calipers to measure substrate and metal thickness to achieve casting standards.
Skills:
  • Ability to safely use, maintain, and care for your department’s hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and identify pieces from drawings
  • Results-driven approach
  • Good communication abilities
