Manual Machinist –1st Shift -$25-$35/hr. (depending on experience) - Savannah, GA
 
Workbox Staffing is hiring Manual Machinist in Savannah, GA. 
This is a temporary-to-hire opportunity! Possible Direct Hire for the right candidate! Relocation assistance available to the right candidate as well via the client. 
Our client is a specialized machining services company and on-site industrial contractor focused on mobile, on-site machining of steam turbines and other heavy rotating equipment. They operate an 85,000 square foot industrial repair facility in Savannah, Georgia with smaller supporting facilities throughout the southern US.

As a Manual Machinist you will performs diverse precision machining operations on manual equipment to accurately produce a variety of complex metal parts from raw material to a final finished good. 
 
4 Shift Availability: 
Day Shift: 7am-3:30 pm
Night Shift: 3:30 pm – 2 AM (plus 10% differential in pay)
Weekend Day: 6 am – 6 pm (plus 20% differential in pay)
Weekend Night: 6pm – 6am (plus 30% differential in pay)
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs machine set-ups
  • Operate various machines as designated and perform any other work when required
  • Inspect finished parts per ISO requirements and determine appropriate disposition
  • Perform activities relative to preparation of some parts prior to assembly
  • Perform off-sets in machines
  • Performs diverse precision machining operations on manual equipment to accurately product a variety of complex metal parts
 
Skills:
  • Frequent bending and twisting required to retrieve parts for machining or moving the hoist
  • Overtime is required at times
  • 5+ years as a general machinist in a manual machine shop environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Knowledge of company ISO procedures and ability to properly determine disposition of parts and documents any corrective actions 
  • Knowledge of basic shop math
  • Experience with manual lathes, milling machines, surface OD grinders, Vertical Turret Lathes, Horizontal Boring Mills
  • Required periodic lifting of parts weight up to 50 pounds or more with or without the use of a hoist
  • Requires a roll around toolbox with a variety of hand tools that are necessary for machine tool setups and operation
  • Ability to run parts with production mind set
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances in producing product
  • Ability to run and edit G & M Codes is a plus
  • Familiarity with MasterCAM software with ability to program machines is a plus
  • Knowledge of OSHA and company rules and regulations for personal, material, and product safety
 
Relocation Assistance Opportunity
Relocation package includes up to $2,.000 towards moving expenses that include gas, hotel, moving trucks. Must provide receipts for reimbursement if approved prior to move. A signed 2-year contract will be required. More details available upon request.
