Machine Operator, $17.50/hr – 2nd Shift - Muskegon
 
Looking for work located in the heart of Muskegon? Look no further!
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • At least 1 year of wood CNC operation required.
  • At least 1 year in wood manufacturing.
  • Experience with a variety of hand and power tools including but not limited to power drills, orbital sanders, saws,
    utility knives & scrapers.
  • Must be comfortable working with computers, including ERP databases (Epicor).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instruction.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
    decimals.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality required.
 
Preferred Skills:
  • Interpret information on the daily ship list and take direction from Value Stream Lead who will prioritize schedule throughout
    the day as needed.
  • Reads prints to identify and verify correct components, both manufactured and purchased, for every job.
  • Properly loads slabs of raw material onto machine bed to prevent quality defects like scratches, gouges, dents, etc.
  • Selects correct programs to run on slabs, and notifies the front office if program is incorrect, rather than editing programs on
    the floor manually.
  • Monitors quality of work using prints, tolerances, various measuring devices. This includes not only material produced in
    assembly but incoming materials from other areas or suppliers. Completes quality checklists daily.
  • Performs special quality inspections as called out and performs on-the-fly problem solving for any issues that may arise with
    small-quantity, custom projects.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools as needed, including but not limited to power drills, orbital sanders, saws, utility knives
    & scrapers, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Completes basic preventative cleaning and maintenance tasks on machines to minimize machine malfunctions.
  • Trains in multiple areas and moves from job to job as necessary to support fluctuating production needs.
  • Maintains orderly workplace regarding both tools and components to facilitate easier operations and flawless assembly.
  • Must be able to safely manage 50 – 100 pound pieces of office furniture, using safe lifting practices. Partner lifting is required
    for pieces larger than 50lbs. Various machines do have a mechanical lift assist. Maneuvering large pieces in an overhead,
    flipping motion is required.
  • Must be comfortable working around wood dust, paint & paint fumes, & glues and adhesives. Masks and respirators are
    provided, but not required.
 
Safe and efficient machining of world class solid wood, veneer, and laminate furniture. Machinists will be responsible for learning to operate a variety of equipment, not just one machine. This includes Glue Line, Panel Saw, Pod & Rail CNC machines, Nested CNC machines, and Edge-banders. The machining area is responsible for ensuring pieces are cut to print so downstream operations can easily assemble products without the need for excessive adjustments or processing.
