Weld Engineer, $90k +, Belleville, Michigan
A local Belleville, MI company that specializes in metal stamped components and welded assemblies is actively seeking an experienced Weld Engineer for a Direct Hire role. You would report to the Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
Perform, recommend and develop preventative maintenance procedures for all plant welding equipment including robotic systems
Evaluate processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld parameters and weld efficiency.
Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility s equipment.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Take lead on new job startup and Engineering changes, involving all aspects from PPAP run, setting up spare parts inventory, PM program, documentation, and training.
Support new model launches and improvement teams.
Ensure process capability by setting up preventative maintenance programs.
Collaborates with Quality and Tooling engineers on FMEA' s and control plans.
Perform machinist duties and responsibilities to support production as needed.
Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
Generate process parameter sheets (work standard and weld parameter sheets) for all new incoming programs.
Analyzes and resolves, or assists others, in solving chronic process and quality issues by actively participating in corrective action, 8D s, and root cause analysis processes.
Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
Perform weld inspection methods (cut & etch, ultrasonic and destructive testing).
Ensure utilization of continuous improvement of current processes.
Maintains clean and safe working conditions at work station and throughout plant.
Participate in continuous improvement and 5S activities.
Communicate optimally to provide accurate, necessary and timely information to all team members.
Maintain compliance with company policy, health and safety procedures, and programs.
Other duties as assigned.

Functions and Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in weld/robotics engineering or equivalent, CWI, CWE, or Master' s Degree.
Six plus years of related technical, hands-on experience in manual and automated welding processes required.
Working knowledge of MIG welding processes.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, product design, safety, quality, and workflow.
Proficiency in welding and training skills required.
Working knowledge of robotic welding and material handling applications required.
Proficiency in robotic programming (ex. Motoman. Fanuc etc.) required.
Strong understanding of electrical/controls circuitry and schematics required.
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required.
Requires collaborating with associates in multiple department within the organization and participating in a team environment.
Requires flexibility in schedule to meet a 24-hour business need.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and weld drawings required.
Knowledge in the following areas are strongly desired.
Weld power source, wire feeder, torch and reamer
Plasma cutting, grinding and rework application
Weld shielding gas technologies
