Summary

Working under the direction of the Production Supervisor Finishing, the Feeder/Packer performs line inspection and packaging of printed products.

Essential Functions

  • Assembles, packs, and inserts paper lining into cartons and boxes.

  • Packs variety of products into specified container.

  • Observes packaging and sealing machine operation to detect faulty sealing or other malfunctions of machine or product. Stops machine and reports malfunction to lead worker.

  • Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications, including size, count, serial number, and standard quality conformance.

  • Determines appropriate label and applies label to box or product according to job packet.

  • Stacks boxed articles on pallet by hand.

  • Meets or exceeds determined hourly production rates and ratios.

  • Monitors production proficiencies through daily profit reporting and job close outs.

  • Records information such as weight, time, and date packaged and number of defects and rejects on appropriate paperwork or enter into computer.

  • Inspects Product before packing to ensure Quality Standards are met.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate and comprehrend efficiently via oral and written communications.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
