Reports To: Production/Engineer Manager
Responsible for designing and developing a product/product family. Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Participates in manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Product Engineers are responsible to coordinate all aspects of APQP. Product Engineers have stop and restart work authority.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
Prepares quotations for materials, labor, tooling and equipment to support new product and prototypes as required utilizing the principles of concurrent engineering.
Key participant in the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
Responsible for the development of engineering masters/manufacturing instructions, testing and evaluation.
Maintains drawing revision levels for engineering changes.
Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and provides cost justification for various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
Leads product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
Leads APQP activities to include PPAP process, GD&T interpretation and PFMEA.
Primary contact with customers to respond to product related questions and/or issues.
Supports supplier development by communicating expectations and monitoring performance based on established quality standards.
Provides support to other team members when required.

Must have knowledge of computers, machining and assembly practices, tools and fixturing.
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, customers and associates.
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of Associates degree, Bachelor degree preferred, in engineering or related field and 2-4 years of experience in the field and/or any appropriate combination of education and experience. CAD design and APQP experience is also preferred. Must have strong working knowledge of PPAP process and GD&T interpretation.
