Maintenance Technician - Welding Department, 3rd Shift, Belleville, Michigan

A local Belleville, MI company that specializes in metal stamped components and welded assemblies is actively seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician in their Welding Department for a Direct Hire role. The role will be on 3rd Shift working from 11: 00 pm - 7: 00 am. Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:

-Performs breakdown maintenance as well as predicative and preventative maintenance.
-Provides feedback to production and maintenance associates.
-Identifies potential safety problems and makes safety adjustments as needed.
-Identifies and reports on downtime causes.
-Rebuild components as needed.
-Performs corrective maintenance, lubrication and equipment inspection.
-Provides written feedback on work performed on work orders, inspection check list and repair requisitions.
-Participate in overall machine effectiveness efforts and waste reduction.
-Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.
-Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facilities equipment.
-Provide emergency or unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
-Perform mechanic skills including, but no limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
-Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
-Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and test and make adjustments.
-Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
-Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
-Provide assistance in design, build, installation and start-up of weld cells/fixtures.
-Reprogram the robotic equipment as needed.
-Provide operator training within the robotic weld cells.
-Perform changeovers on welding cells.
-Responds to and provides service and feedback to the customer an all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
-Reading and interpreting electrical schematics while working with electrical ranging from low voltage up to 480V - 3 Phase. Repairs electrical equipment.
-Support engineering department on large projects, as needed.
-Analyzes and resolves, or assists others, in solving chronic process and quality issues by actively participating in corrective action, 8D s, and root cause analysis processes.
-Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
-Ensure utilization of continuous improvement of current processes
-Maintains clean and safe working conditions at work station and throughout plant
-Participate in continuous improvement and 5S activities
-Communicate optimally to provide accurate, necessary and timely information to all team members.
-Safely operate fork-lifts and aerial lifts
-Utilizes safe rigging and lifting techniques
-Maintain Plex tracking records
-Maintain compliance with company policies, health and safety issues, procedures, and programs
-General building and facility maintenance as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.

Functions and Requirements:

-High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
-Courses or working experience with electrical and hydraulics preferred.
-Strong Electrical Maintenance troubleshooting skills preferred.
-Minimum 2+ years in general machine maintenance, including at least one-year experience related to welding machines and support equipment required.
-Ability to write detailed repair reports.
-Working knowledge of MIG and TIG welding processes required.
-Knowledge of manufacturing processes, product design, safety, quality, and workflow required.
-Knowledge in robotic welding and material handling applications required.
-Knowledge in robotic programming (ex. Motoman. Fanuc etc.) required.
-Understanding of electrical/controls circuitry and schematics required
-Able to properly use test equipment, heavy industrial shop tools and equipment, diagnose and trouble-shoot equipment malfunctions and systems failure.
-Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and ability to learn our ERP system Plex.
-Requires collaboration with multiple departments.
-Requires flexibility in schedule to support a 24-hour manufacturing facility.
-Maintain current hi lo and crane license.
-Must have ability to work quickly, efficiently, and independently or in a team environment

Physical Demands:
-Exposure to industry accepted chemicals, and noise
-Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Unassisted and 75 lbs. Assisted
-Able to stand on feet for 8 hours
-Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility
-Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
