Overhead Crane Maintenance Mechanic- 1st Shift   PAY: $20 - $27.00   hour
Monday – Thursday 6AM – 5:00PM
Candidates can arrive up to 1hr early before shift and be paid. Considered late after 1 minute from shift start
(Pay will be based upon the candidate’s individual qualifications and history of performance and pay. (Hourly Non-Exempt)
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • 1 Takes charge of his as well as other employees’ safety.
  • Perform inspections, maintenance and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists 
  • Conduct on-site electrical, mechanical, structural and electronic troubleshooting to determine cause for equipment malfunction and establish the necessary repairs using visual inspection, test procedures and appropriate test equipment. Perform a general post repair audit before completion of work, documenting that all required safety features are functional or documenting deficiencies and attaching a deficiency tag to the crane.
  • Install overhead cranes, crane controls, hoists and drives.
  • Inspect and load test overhead industrial cranes and hoists.
  • Proper use of a man lift during service.
  • Proper use of forklifts, shooting booms and mobile cranes.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, manuals, and schematics.
  • Ability to manage time to a schedule and accountable for reporting per job.
  • Ability to properly maintain and perform basic troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software as necessary to complete logs or records.
  • Experience repairing heavy equipment, electrical control circuits, equipment modifications such as retrofits, replacing motors and gears, and replacing hydraulic brakes with electric. You should also be proficient in reading electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment independently. Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) makes you more competitive in this field, as well as having welding and machining skills and familiarity with AC and DC electromechanical and solid-state motor control systems.
  • Maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Installs equipment with the assistance of machine manufacturers or other resources.
  • Rebuilds equipment as required.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Requirements
 
Education / Training: High School Diploma or GED
  
Experience:
 
  • A minimum of three years of in-trade industrial skilled maintenance experience required.
  • Must possess a strong focus on Safety and demonstrate prior safety knowledge.
  • Previous experience with hydraulic systems preferred.
  • Previous experience and training with overhead cranes.
  • Experience with welding, cutting, fabrication and equipment maintenance required.
  • Must possess the ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot 460 vac 3 phase electrical motors and controls circuitry.
  • Must be comfortable working at certain heights.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (cold and hot)
 
Other:
 
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and work under minimal supervision required.
  • Must own electricians hand tools, quality electrical test meter, and steel toed boots.
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Must have good communication skills and basic math skills.
  • Must possess experience working with power tools.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time required.
  • Ability to interact with coworkers and internal customers in a positive manner.
  • Ability to follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normal scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Self-starter- able to work alone and in groups to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to interpret data to come to conclusions when all of the information is not available.
